We all play a part All visitors have a vital role to play in the Magnetic Island Solar Suburb project, an energy evolution leading to a smarter and more sustainable way of using and generating electricity. It's important we all work together to conserve electricity, especially since electricity demand increases as Magnetic Island grows. Simple changes matter and participation is easy. During your stay, you can help keep Maggie beautiful by: • Turning your air conditioner to 25 degrees Celcius and switch it off when you go out -- this is a more energy efficient way to cool your room • Please try not to use appliances such as clothes dryers, washing machines and dishwashers during our peak demand times of 6pm to 9pm daily -- you might notice our reminder on these appliances of the times not to use them • Always wash full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine. The Magnetic Island Solar Suburb is part of the Australian Government's Solar Cities program -- a partnership between all levels of government, industry, business and local communities to trial sustainable energy solutions. By changing the way we view and use energy, and gathering valuable data to inform future policies, Solar Cities is creating a new energy future for Australia.
